Claire’s fascination with pregnancy and babies began at age 5 when she felt her baby brother kick in her Mom’s beautiful round tummy. Books, videos, and "playing preggo" did not compare to the overwhelming sense of joy and pride she felt when actually holding and caring for her little sibling. From a very young age, Claire also assisted her Mama’s massage therapy and childhood art therapy work and would beg her Yoga-teaching Granny for more shapes to embody. Claire’s innate ability to soothe and nurture those around her has been enhanced by her educational and work choices.
At Clark University, Claire studied Developmental Psychology with a focus on family dynamics and children under five years old. In her fourth semester at Clark, while enrolled in; Sociology of Medicine, Children with Disabilities, and Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, Claire was inspired to self-design an academic concentration titled “Holistic Health”. Around this same time, Claire began leading informal yoga and meditation sessions on campus. Her summers were full of experiential and exploratory learning in Spain as an Au Pair, in New York as a Nanny, and in Pavones, Costa Rica as student of Yoga.
Claire's current work is inspired by years of hands-on experience as a big sister, a nanny, a yoga teacher, an inner-city mindfulness-based learning instructor, and a modern woman seeking holistic health. Happy Baby Yoga & Doula Care was conceived while Claire was a full-time Nanny and Postpartum Doula in Mill Valley, California. She was working for a mother of 3 delightfully necessitous children under 4 years old. Working alongside this lovingly devoted mother, Claire felt the sleepless struggle, the overwhelming joy, sense of isolation, challenging family dynamics, and loss of autonomy that came following childbirth. Claire saw and felt the tangible difference of just a few minutes of self-care and officially made it her mission to serve mothers and families.
