What is Prenatal Yoga?
Prenatal Yoga is a way to safely incorporate exercise and healthy movement into your life. It's a way to soothe the aches and anxieties that often accompany pregnancy, a way to be reminded of who you are and the strength you already have within. It's a place to build stamina, endurance, and stability for childbirth, motherhood and beyond.
The Prenatal Yoga classes I lead are not "watered-down Vinyasa" or a "gentle yoga class". They are not childbirth education classes, although they do include movements and breathing techniques that will make you feel stronger and more centered during labor. I choose to focus on what your pregnant body CAN do rather than dwell on what feels uncomfortable or what you hear you're "not supposed to do". I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for you to breath deeply and make peace with the changes that are occurring in your body and life. Yoga can be practiced at all stages of pregnancy, with approval from your healthcare provider if you are in your 1st trimester or if you are considered a 'high-risk pregnancy'.
